Get To Know Design Thinking: Designer's mindset

In design thinking, the process of selecting a challenge or problem to focus on is known as problem definition. When selecting a challenge area in design thinking, it can be helpful to follow a process similar to the one I outlined in my previous response, but with a focus on identifying problems or opportunities for innovation. Here are a few specific tips for selecting a challenge area in design thinking:
  • Identify a broad area of interest: Start by considering your personal interests and passions, as well as the current needs and issues in your community or the world at large. This will help you identify a broad area of focus for your design thinking project.
  • Narrow down your focus: Once you have identified a broad area of interest, try to narrow down your focus to a specific challenge or problem that you can realistically address with design thinking.
  • Consider your resources and constraints: Think about the resources you have available to you, as well as any constraints or limitations that you will need to work within. This will help you identify a challenge area that is feasible for you to tackle.
  • Look for opportunities for innovation: As you identify potential challenge areas, try to look for opportunities to innovate and create something new and valuable. This is at the heart of design thinking, and will help ensure that your project has a lasting impact.
When selecting a challenge area, it can be helpful to consider your personal interests and passions, as well as the current needs and issues in your community or the world at large. You may also want to consider your skills and strengths, as well as any resources or support systems that are available to you. It may be helpful to do some research and brainstorming to identify potential challenge areas that align with your goals and values.
